Imagine you’re live on TV, talking about something as serious as Gun Safety Week, and then, out of nowhere, a tiny, meowing bundle of fur decides it’s their time to shine.

That’s exactly what happened to Detroit reporter Nima Shaffe, whose unexpected guest stole the hearts of viewers faster than you can say “cut!”

Nima was in the middle of his segment when a stray kitten, barely able to reach his ankles, waltzed into the frame, meowing for attention.

“At first, I thought I was hearing things,” Nima recalled, chuckling at the memory. “But then I looked down, and there was this tiny kitten, looking right up at me as if to say, ‘Forget gun safety, I’m the news today.'”

The crew, including photojournalist Andy Zaremba, quickly rallied around the little furball, who they later named Lucky 7.
