  • Stoa was formed by keyboardist and composer Olaf Parusel and by vocalist Conny Levrow in 1991 in Germany. Urthona (Hyperium, 1993) introduced their "neo-classic" style, that mixes synthetic instruments and classical arrangements. Tracks: Candide, Autumn, Infant Joy, Spin, In Memoriam, Stoa , Captivity, Dust, 128ever, Taumel, Hommage.

    Porta VIII (1994) continued their program with a more sophisticated sound. Tracks: Introitus, Partus , Urthona, Luvah, Tharmas, Urizen, Scrupus, Mors, Conclusio .

    Stoa seemed to disband after Levrow decided to pursue her career as a classical violinist, but eventually Parusel reformed them with Antje Buchheiser on vocals, Christiane Fischer on cello and Barbara Uble on oboe. This quartet recorded Zal (Alice In, 2002), their most ambitious work yet, containing three instrumentals and eight songs. The songs set verses of famous poets to music.
